CRAFT , DESIGN , ART , TILES AND MARILYN SHOES IN PORTUGAL

From 14 to 16 May 2013.  in Portugal citys as Cascais and Lisbon, was organized the second seminar – ‘ SUSTAINABLE DESIGN INNOVATION & CREATIVE INDUSTRIES’ of the project ‘Regional cooperation for crafts development. Seven EU member representatives of local governments, artisans, designers and manufacturers of Latvia , Portugal, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria and the Netherlands, as well as representatives of other countries shared their experience how  local government can promote  usage of innovation and design in the creation of craft products, making them more interesting, innovative and attractive to users . Latvia was represented by the craftsmens and designers.  Ceramic Ilona Sausa from society ‘Baltic Raku’ , glasscutter Inga Salmina from Livani  aswell as designer  and the founder  of the company' ‘Purpurs’ Ginta Smite .

 

During the seminar was organized tour along Cascais and was visited the new creative entrepreneurship incubator (www.dnacascais.pt/HOMEPAGE.aspx?ID=1999 ), and Cultural Center ‘Ways of Arts’ (www.wayofarts.com/en/)

The most important stops during the оrganized  tour in Lisbon was the National Tile Museum and Hall (http://mnazulejo.imc--ip.pt/en--GB/default.aspx), ‘CHIADO & DESIGN STUDIOS’  and ‘CORQUE DESIGN COLLECTION’( www.corquedesign.com ) and Portuguese traditional products shop ‘Vida Portuguesa Concept store’ (www.avidaportuguesa.com/?lng=en&sec=&sub=&hid), as well as Lisbon Fashion and design Museum which was situated in the the former bank 's building.


Surprised a lot in spare time visited the splendid Pena Palace in Sintra build during the Romantic period (http://www.parquesdesintra.pt/en/index.aspx?redir=1&p=parksIndex&MenuId=1&Menu0Id=1 ) and personal exibition ‘Palacio Nacional da Ajuda’ of Joana Vasconcelos (http://www.joanavasconcelos-pnajuda.pt/).

 

Project took place in the INTERREG IVC program. Project Leading Partners – Zemgales Planning Region in collaboration with non-governmental organization ‘Legacy of al-Andalus’ from Spain; Foundation ‘Kulturele Haadsted 2018’, the Netherlands, local regional association ‘Central Stara Planina’, Bulgaria, local government of Paggaio, Greece, City Council, of Caiscais, Portugal.
